If there is one thing guaranteed to make a truck driver mad (apart from middle-lane-hoggers doing 55 miles an hour), it’s a loose fire extinguisher rattling around in the cab! It is a legal requirement to have a 2kg powder fire extinguisher in most truck cabs so make sure you have a good transport bracket.
For trucks carrying dangerous goods covered by the ADR Regulations, one or two6kg powder fire extinguishers are essential (or 9kg size – check the regulations).
Then, if your extinguisher is to be housed outside the cab itself, protecting it from water, muck and grime with a shatterproof extinguisher storage box makes sense. These boxes also help prevent extinguishers being stolen from unattended trucks, and can be fixed at an angle for easier access in an emergency.
